Here’s a unique way to not only listen to sound, but truly feel the sound within your body. “It is a massage to your nervous system. Not a “work-out” but a “work-in”.
It is not a performance but an offering.
Wan Tay has been offering Sound Baths in Lubbock and surrounding areas since 2016. She is a certified yoga teacher, financial coach and space organizer. After a session with her, you can expect to walk away more relaxed and in tune with your body. A student told her that the sound vibrations felt like “a big hug to the soul”.
What is sound healing/sound bath?
Sound has been used for centuries in many cultures across the globe as a tool for healing bringing imbalance to balance. It is an immersive full-body sensory experience of deep relaxation through vibrations and resonance of sound.
The goal of sound healing is to calm the fight or flight response to manage anxiety and stress to raise the parasympathetic nervous system to help promote and facilitate deep relaxation. Our body, mind and spirit always want to be moving in a direction toward balance, yet we often have too much outer stimulus and noise and not enough time to dedicate to ourselves, which can prevent us from achieving a better state of harmony. Sound has a way of helping us get to the source of this inner peace we all desire. Sound not only helps with inducing relaxation, but also has a way of moving through areas of blockage. These energetic blockage areas can be located in our physical bodies, our subtle bodies, or both.
What can sound heal?
Using sound as therapy can provide results for a variety of issues including:
- Sleep disorders
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Stress management
- PTSD
- Depression
- Pain management
What creates the sounds?
During a sound healing session you will not only hear, but most importantly feel the sounds and vibrations from gongs, singing bowls, tingshas, chimes, tongue drum, rain stick and the sound of your breath.
How long is a typical session?
The session is 60-90 minutes. It usually starts with 1-2 breathing exercises to calm down the senses. Then with your eyes closed, either sitting on a chair or laying down on the floor supported by blankets, bolsters and blocks in a restorative posture. The sound experience lasts for about 45 mins.
